What you’ll learn
By the end of this module you will be able to:
- Explain why the governance of non-profit societies matters
- Explore the roles, responsibilities, and duties of board members
- Describe the six primary governance responsibilities
- Explain the board’s role in the oversight of these areas of responsibilities
Throughout the course you will read and watch content, and be encouraged to engage in various offline activities to apply your learning to your board role. We know that you may not all have the opportunity to take activities back to your board while you’re in this module; however, this learning is all about your involvement with your board. Our invitation to you is to take the information in this module and make it live in your own situation.
Once you have completed this module you can go on to learn more about board governance in our other self-serve modules.
This module is one of 4 modules which comprise the 12-week facilitated online Board Governance course curriculum, developed in partnership with BC Housing.
