Welcome to our new board members!

BCNPHA is pleased to welcome several new members to its Board of Directors. These six individuals will join a dynamic group of innovative housing leaders who are making an impact in the non-profit housing sector, both in their home communities and for the province as a whole.

Representing the Lower Mainland region is Monique Nelson, Director of Community Engagement for posAbilities, a multi-regional non-profit community living service provider. She brings a wealth of experience in communications, public engagement, policy development and the recognition of Indigenous rights.

Mike Gawliuk will be representing the Interior region. Gawliuk has worked in the non-profit sector for 25 years, and is the Director of Service Delivery and Program Innovation with CMHA Kelowna, where his work includes developing and overseeing Supportive Housing and Housing First programs.

Our new At-Large board members include William Azaroff and Trever Broadhead. Azaroff is the CEO of Brightside Community Homes Foundation and brings nearly 10 years of leadership experience from his time at Vancity and as the Board Chair of the Vancity Community Foundation and former chair of Modo Co-operative. Broadhead is new to the non-profit housing sector, having joined Vancouver Native Housing Society as Chief Operations Officer in the spring of 2018, and was previously the Family Support Manager at the Family Centre Society of Southern Alberta.

Lynda Edmonds, CEO for Fraserside Community Services, will also be representing the Lower Mainland region. Edmonds’ career includes 40 years of experience as a social worker and seven years leading Fraserside, a multi-service agency that supports people with a wide range of needs by creating strong, inclusive communities.

Representing the Northern region is Kathi Heim, Executive Director of the Prince George & District Elizabeth Fry Society. The organization supports women, children and families with education, counselling, child and youth programs and housing.

We look forward to welcoming the entire board for its first meeting in early February, when we’ll kick off our new strategic planning process. For a full list of our board members, please click here.
