Ready, Set, Retrofit! provides an overview of the value of retrofitting non-profit housing buildings in BC. In this brand-new online resource, participants will gain a basic understanding of what a retrofit entails, key reasons to consider retrofits, as well as the positive impacts of retrofits on tenants, the environment and building service life. This resource will also help participants to assess their readiness to undertake a retrofit. Whether you’re new to this topic or bring years of experience, Ready, Set, Retrofit! is designed to give you a solid foundation in understanding how to retrofit your building, and highlight why these projects can be so impactful for the community your society serves.

Through insights, practical tools and supporting resources, this resource will help you address:

  • What exactly does it mean to retrofit?
  • How do I determine of a retrofit is right for our building?
  • What scale of retrofit is appropriate, and where should I begin?

What you’ll learn

The learning content is provided in a format that allows you to progress at your own pace.

Prerequisites

This is an online resource and participants must have basic computer skills with regular access to a computer with MS Office 2010 or later and a modern, safe browser. We recommend Chrome, however any updated browser will work. Templates used in this course may require MS Excel, MS Word and .pdf reader. This course is provided in English and requires reading and writing at a grade 8 level.

Please note that all HousingU courses are for single-user registration only, as our learning management system requires a unique email address for each participant. This means you can’t enroll another person on your behalf. Each participant must set up their own BCNPHA account, register individually, and use their own email to receive their unique login details and course access.

Participants are welcome to either pay upfront or select “Pay Later” upon registration checkout and then forward the receipt/invoice to the appropriate party for reimbursement, if applicable.
