BCNPHA Message about Coronavirus | COVID-19

We would like to inform everyone that the Vancouver Island Regional Education, Networking & Tradeshow (RENT) event in Nanaimo, scheduled for April 16 and 17 at the Coast Bastion Hotel, has been cancelled due to precautions surrounding COVID-19 / Coronavirus. We are working with our partners to explore opportunities for a virtual RENT event, about which we will share more information with you shortly. If you have already registered for the Vancouver Island RENT event, you will receive a full refund.

As you may be aware, Canadian public health authorities have escalated measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, including advising for reduced travel and increased social distancing. Our sector works with many vulnerable members of the community, and with that in mind we are taking precautionary efforts and working together with our partners to minimize the risk of exposure. This includes closely examining our other upcoming events and services to members, and business travel.

The BCNPHA Asset Management team has postponed scheduled on-site energy audits and Building Condition Assessments. If you’ve been planning to book these services at a later time, we will begin scheduling appointments once it is safe to do so.

BCNPHA will continue to operate during this time, and is preparing business continuity plans to ensure we can provide essential services and support to our members as this situation evolves. This includes sharing resources with non-profit housing providers about the COVID-19 virus, and working with our partners to ensure that the non-profit housing sector is supported through these challenges.

While these decisions have been difficult, we understand our role in helping to minimize the transmission of the virus to vulnerable people. We are looking forward to connecting with all of you virtually in the coming weeks.
