New keynotes announced for the 2019 Housing Central Conference

New Keynotes Announced

Planning is well underway for a great Housing Central Conference, so be sure to mark your calendars for Canada’s must-attend forum on affordable housing.

We are thrilled to announce two of our confirmed keynote speakers: Shachi Kurl, Executive Director of the Angus Reid Institute, dives into today’s pressing cultural, political and economic issues, using clear language to uncover what we really think about them, why they matter, and how they’re changing. A recipient of the Jack Webster Award for Best TV Reporting, Kurl is a commentator on CBC’s “At Issue” political panel, as well as in The Globe and Mail and the National Post. Dr. Brian Goldman, emergency room physician, host of CBC’s award-winning show “White Coat, Black Art” and author of three books including The Power of Kindness, is an acclaimed speaker on subjects ranging from whistleblowers in health care to the vital importance of empathy in the hospital setting.

In addition to our fascinating keynote speakers, the conference team is hard at work putting together a lineup of more than 120 education sessions. These valuable learning opportunities are targeted for all members of your organization, whether you’re an executive director, board member, building maintenance employee or frontline staff. We look forward to unveiling the full schedule when registration opens in September!

Of course, we couldn’t present Canada’s largest affordable housing conference without the help of our Housing Central partners: the Co-op Housing Federation of BC and the Aboriginal Housing Management Association. Our sponsors are also a big part making the conference such a success – we look forward to welcoming back our valued returning sponsors, and showcasing the work of new ones who want to be part of our great event.

Between the sessions, keynote speakers and tradeshow, the 2019 conference will also feature dedicated networking opportunities, housing tours, the Art Expo and the Sector Supper – stay tuned for the BCNPHA awards nomination information coming soon!

SAVE THE DATE! The 2019 Housing Central Conference takes place November 17 to 19 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre (1088 Burrard Street).
