Looking for Home: MAPBC/BCNPHA Roundtable around Housing Refugee Claimants

Imagine arriving in BC with few resources, after having fled from danger and persecution. Then you begin to look for safe and affordable housing, a place from which you can start to settle. For many, non-profit housing is their best and only option. Through this roundtable:

• Gain a better understanding of the challenges that claimants face in finding housing, especially trauma and systemic discrimination.
• Hear from refugees’ lived experience and learn from a successful placement.
• Gain a better understanding of the concerns of housing providers in relation to the precarious status of claimants.
