IAP2 Foundations in Public Participation

Sept 16 - Sept 29

We are happy to announce that we are once again able to offer the IAP2 Foundations in Public Participation training, an internationally recognized community and stakeholder engagement training offered to non-profit housing organizations from across the province.

Program generously sponsored by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Sept 16 - Sept 29

Registration Start/End Date:

Registration closes September 10, 2021

Are you interested in learning communication for effective and authentic stakeholder engagement? IAP2 Training will provide you with the tools needed to move your projects forward in a timely, cost-effective way. Learn how to apply the elements of successful engagement planning, ensuring dialogue is positive, respectful and productive, by participating in our IAP2 Foundations in Public Participation program.

The training is particularly relevant for anyone in the non-profit housing sector that is leading any internal or external engagement initiatives, and who needs to develop positive and supportive relationships with their tenants, neighbours and the wider community.

The course will be customized with content, guest speakers and case studies from the non-profit housing sector, using participants’ examples. While the course focuses on supporting non-profits who are embarking on new developments, the skills and knowledge apply across all engagement initiatives.

Participants will learn a proven structure that will greatly increase the odds of a successful public participation and planning. Participants will also get the opportunity to learn and practice specific engagement techniques and how to align these to the engagement outcomes.

At the end of this training, participants will receive a certificate issued by the IAP2 International Federation.

“The IAP2 process is an invaluable resource to have at your fingertips and the facilitators were really able to bring it to life with their experience and enthusiasm.”

– Participant in BCNPHA’s 2020 IAP2 course

This training is reserved for BC non-profit housing organizations (preference will be given to BCNPHA members). Attendees should be in a community engagement, communication or engagement position within their organization and would likely be designing or implementing an engagement project.

It will be particularly helpful for organizations developing a property or looking towards (re)development, however the skills gained will apply to all engagement scenarios.

Seating is limited in order to provide a highly individualized and interactive learning environment. Registration is limited to one attendee per organization.

The registration deadline is September 10, 2021 at 5pm.

Please note

This is a highly-subsidized course. Once payment is made, it is non-refundable, unless a substitute from the organization is found.

What Previous Participants have Said…

“This training was instrumental in being able to reflect on our organizations current engagement practices and begin the work of identifying new best practices for the future”

– Participant in BCNPHA’s 2020 IAP2 course

“I would highly recommend the training to others. It has provided me with skills to use in my daily life when working with colleagues and other community/government organizations. It has provided me with a deeper understanding and skill set with how to engage using a collaborative approach vs engaging in an oppositional/antagonistic one.”

Participant in BCNPHA’s 2020 IAP2 course

“The IAP2 Foundations, planning and techniques was amazing, and Jessica Delaney was the best facilitator I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I will be taking all of the lessons I have learned through my organization with excitement!”
