Have you seen the need for more affordable housing options in your community? Do you have an idea, a building site and the commitment of your Board but not sure what’s next or how to get started?
If you are considering building affordable housing in your community, Ready, Set, Build! (RSB!) is for you. RSB! is a blended course, consisting of independent online learning and virtual face-to-face sessions with peers and a facilitator, that will walk you through the development process. The course is for board members and staff from organizations of any size. BCNPHA has been successfully delivering RSB! for many years and has helped numerous non-profit housing providers with their building projects.
This course taught me how important it is to create and maintain a relationship with all organizations, government bodies, partners, and local community through all stages of the development process.
Step 1) Determine if this course is right for you by clicking on the Are You Ready to Build? interactive resource below. This short resource will guide you through an overview of the new building and re-development process and will help you make an informed decision regarding your readiness for the RSB! course. Click on the Next tab to navigate through the resource.
Step 2) Register online. We offer the course as a series of learning cohorts throughout the year. Scroll down below under the Courses section to see when the next learning cohort starts.
Step 3) Once you register for RSB!, we’ll email you course-specific details including important dates for the virtual learning sessions.
Step 4) Attend a 1.5-hr orientation session to meet others, learn how to use HousingU, BCNPHA’s online learning platform. This is followed by two 2.5-hr virtual interactive sessions. Here you’ll work with your facilitator and co-learners and actively apply what you’ve learned in your independent studies. All virtual sessions take place on Zoom. You will also have access to course resource material in HousingU. Virtual sessions are normally not recorded.
Step 5) After the face-to-face sessions, complete your own proposal to get expert feedback from our instructors. A proposal submission is a condition to qualify for a course completion certificate.
Step 6) Ready to join us? The next RSB! cohort starts Winter (Feb-Mar) 2025.
