Call for proposals now open

Call for HCC Proposals now extended!

BCNPHA is continuing to accept submissions for the 2021 Call for Proposals.

In previous years, we’ve held separate proposals for different events – but much has changed in 2020/21. We’ve shifted our learning events online in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This call is not exclusive to our Housing Central Conference or our RENT event – it also includes online learning events such as roundtables and webinars. In the survey, you’ll be able to identify what venue – webinar, roundtable, conference or RENT – you feel your education content would be best delivered in.

The 2021 RENT will be held on the 20th of May. The dates for the Housing Central Conference are to be confirmed, but generally will be held between mid-November and mid-December.

Our call will remain open for submissions to present at the Housing Central Conference until April 17th, 2021. The call will remain open for other online learning events in perpetuity.

This year, we’d like to place particular focus on the following topic areas. Note that this list is no means exhaustive, and we encourage submissions in all topics that are relevant to supporting and building capacity within the housing sector.

– Board Skills (going beyond governance 101)

– Issues particular to rural and remote communities

– Social Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

– Mental health and physical safety in the era of COVID-19 (mental health and wellness, sanitation best practices, etc.)

– Skills to help tell the story of our sector

– Promising practices for addressing operational challenges

Across all topic areas, we especially value perspectives of people with lived experience. Including tenants in conversations about tenant relocation or community building between tenants in social housing is a prime example. This applies across the board to many of the topics that we feature in our learning events, and as such, we view proposals that feature people with lived experience highly.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions around the call for proposals process. We’re happy to answer questions and advise you on best practices for proposal submission. Our Policy and Education Coordinator, Jackson, can be contacted directly at jackson@bcnpha.ca.
