Bryan Woo

Managing Director

Bryan is a cross-sector change leader who lifts entrepreneurial capacity for mission-driven impact. His innovative leadership transforms and propels BCNPHA to achieve strategic excellence. As Managing Director, he drives comprehensive organizational strategies through his collaborative, relational, and analytical approach to accomplish mission and vision. Bryan represents BCNPHA and serves on the board of the Canadian Society of Association Executives.

Maria Montero

Director of Finance and Administration

Maria joined BCNPHA to support its growing financial and operational needs as the financial controller. She brings a wealth of experience in industries focused on property management, real estate development, seniors’ community living, and post-secondary education. Maria has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and holds a CPA, CGA designation. She became the Acting Director of Finance in August 2023 before becoming Director of Finance and Administration.

Junaid Yasin

Financial Controller

Junaid has 17 years of experience in accounting, focused on banking, real estate, and post-secondary education. Junaid has a master’s degree in finance and economics and bachelor’s degree in commerce. Junaid joined BCNPHA to assist the Finance and Administration team.

Raquel joined BCNPHA to assist the Finance and Administration team. She has worked in the real estate industry for 14 years focused on bank financing, delinquency control and credit and collections. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Master’s degree in Business Administration.

Fatima has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Technology and recently completed her Post-Degree Diploma program in Accounting. Her professional background includes budgeting, administrative, and strong foundation in customer service.

Ian Wastasecoot

IT Manager

Ian supports the day-to-day tech operations of BCNPHA and creates automated workflows for the team to use in our CRM software. Ian brings to the team over 11 years of web development experience and eight years of technical experience.

Marika Albert

Policy Director

Marika leads our research and advocacy efforts, as well as BCNPHA’s professional development and education programs. She tackles large-scale issues affecting the sector and advocates for tangible solutions through legislative, policy, and funding changes. Marika holds an MA in Sociology and in 2018 was recognized with an Honorary Citizen Award from the City of Victoria for her work on housing and homelessness research.

Education Manager

Angi joined the BCNPHA team in August 2022 as the Education Manager and oversees the strategic planning of responsive professional development and learning offerings for BCNPHA members. Angi recently completed her MA in Community Development and comes to BCNPHA with a professional background in learning engagement, leadership, capacity building, and program design.

Kate Nielsen

Education Lead

Kate combines her love of learning with a keen interest in adult education and more than 20 years of experience working in the non-profit housing sector to deliver BCNPHA’s suite of e-learning opportunities. She is a recent graduate of the BC Provincial Instructor Diploma (Adult & Continuing Education) Program and her ambition is to master all the online training tools in the universe, as well as stick to one Starbucks coffee per day.

Courtney joined the BCNPHA team in September of 2021 to assist the Education Team with providing learning opportunities to support our members and the sector. She comes to BCNPHA with a professional background in adult education, facilitation, and community development.

Jackson Freedman

Education Project Coordinator

Jackson joined BCNPHA in 2019 after earning a BA in Political Science, and has supported our education and policy work with a keen organizational focus. He uses data-driven analysis to support members with the tools they need to deliver affordable housing, and to develop effective strategies that address the affordable housing crisis in BC.

Erika works directly with members and leads research projects that build an evidence-based foundation for BCNPHA’s policy and advocacy work. Andrés Peñaloza

Senior Policy Analyst

Andrés leads and supports many of BCNPHA’s research and policy initiatives with his expertise in strategic planning and policymaking. He holds a MA in Public Policy and Global Affairs and a BA in Urban Planning and worked as a city planner for over five years before moving from Venezuela to Vancouver.

Sruti leads the sector-wide census that will help drive the future of our understanding of non-profit housing in the province and advance the interests of the sector. She holds an MSc in Design and Urban Ecologies and a B. Architecture and joined BCNPHA in 2020.

Rebecca Siggner

Special Projects Manager

Rebecca has worked in the housing and homelessness sector for almost 20 years, conducting quantitative and qualitative research to inform decision-making and planning for the sector. The evidence-based research she has conducted and tools she has developed have influenced programs across Canada and the U.S., and won national awards due to their impact. Rebecca holds a Master’s in Environmental Studies. At BCNPHA, Rebecca leads a range of projects related to supportive housing, asset planning and exploring new construction techniques to expand the supply of affordable housing.

Mauricio Ruiz

Director of Member Services and Partnerships

Mauricio joined BCNPHA full-time in 2020, after supporting the team during the 2019 Housing Central Conference. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international commerce and a professional sales certificate. He also has public, private, and non-profit experience in the areas of business development, new market opening and development, marketing, and value chain integration. As Director of Member Services and Partnerships, he applies his relationship-building skills to connect with members, existing and future partners, implementing new partnerships to diversify and increase revenue for the organization and to find products and solutions that strengthen the capacity of the sector.

Anne Chisholm

Anne has joined BCNPHA after an extensive career in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Her diverse career has included the hospitality, tourism, financial, property management, senior’s housing, and healthcare industries. Anne’s business development experience has successfully combined the generation of revenue through meaningful relationships, execution of events and marketing. As well, Anne has contributed her passion as a volunteer over the years, focusing on vulnerable organizations. She is eager to use her talents and skills in both the sponsorship and partner programs, in alignment with the membership base through programming, participation and engagement.

Chelsea Nicholson

Technical Lead – Energy Specialist

As Technical Lead – Energy Specialist, Chelsea provides energy audits and energy coaching to help identify emission and cost savings for non-profit housing providers. Chelsea acquired a Master of Environment in Australia. Her background includes working as a building energy retrofit officer at the University of Melbourne and as a sustainability consultant. She is passionate about reducing greenhouse gas emissions and operational costs while improving occupant comfort.

Richard Is a Building Energy Specialist at BCNPHA. Richard studied Sustainable Energy and Building Technology at Humber Facility of Applied Technology where he developed a passion for reducing the environmental impact of buildings. Prior to this, Richard worked for a housing association in Wales (UK) giving him the opportunity to support vulnerable families with their housing needs. Richard’s goal is to support people to lower their energy bills and environmental impact while improving their quality of life.

Khaled Issa

Building Energy Analyst

Khaled supports non-profit housing societies with energy benchmarking to help identify opportunities in their buildings for efficiency improvements and GHG emissions reductions. He also assists the BCNPHA asset management team with their building data requirements and reporting. Khaled holds a MSc (UNB) and a PhD (UofC) in Mechanical Engineering, along with a certification in Building Controls and Energy Management (BCIT). He has experience in the building energy efficiency and clean transportation sectors. Khaled is passionate about working at the intersection of energy efficiency and data analytics, and aspires to apply his skills towards advocating for non-profit housing societies.

Mae has a background working in the not-for-profit housing sector, including experience with asset management administration, change management and housing operations. With strong knowledge in the housing and maintenance modules, she’s an asset when it comes to onboarding, implementation, and training processes with Arcori PM. Mae is eager to get members set up with Arcori and get into training and streamlining processes.
