Over the last several months, BCNPHA has rolled out an important, sector-wide census survey to non-profit housing providers across the province. We last collected this information in 2012 and are undergoing the process of updating it.

The information BCNPHA collects will be used for a variety of internal and external purposes, all of which will advance the interests of BC’s non-profit housing sector, through:

  • informing our evidenced-based advocacy, policy, and research;
  • helping to develop bulk purchasing programs to reduce costs on goods and services for members;
  • increasing energy efficiency, greenhouse gas reductions, and cost savings within the sector;
  • helping external stakeholders understand the size, scope, and social, and economic benefits of non-profit housing in BC; and,
  • developing new education resources to benefit the sector.

When we first started collecting this data in 2008, we were able to aggregate the energy use of the sector and ultimately received significant funding to build our entire asset management department, which now employs 11 staff who support energy reduction and capital planning for non-profit housing providers. The data you provide in 2021 will help us plan the next big expansion of services to support your work.

This survey collects information on your housing portfolio, including : information about the type of housing provided; the number of units and beds within your portfolio; building amenities and, information surrounding your portfolio’s energy usage and efficiency. All data collected will be held confidentially by BCNPHA, and any data that is shared with external stakeholders will be in aggregated form only.

We appreciate your support! Once you have completed the survey your organization will be entered into a draw for valuable prizes and will be eligible for a choice of the following (names will be selected until all prizes are awarded):

  • $500 gift certificates from partners such as Planet Clean and Restwell
  • $250 Visa gift cards
  • A complimentary BCNPHA membership (new memberships or renewal)
  • Three free Housing Central conference registrations for 2022
  • Six free HousingU courses
