Calling Ministries successfully completed a transformative deep energy retrofit of two aging residential buildings – Dogwood and Cypress – with the support of multiple funders. This ambitious project replaced outdated gas-based systems with high-efficiency heat pumps, delivering cooling for the first time, improved indoor air quality through energy recovery ventilators (ERVs), and upgraded windows and insulation for better comfort and resilience.
The project resulted in 98% emissions reductions, 72% energy savings, and approximately $3,200 in annual utility cost savings, all while preserving affordable housing for senior residents. Tenants returned to safer, quieter homes with modern amenities, including cooling during hot weather and enhanced ventilation.
