Ready, Set, Build!

Back to previous page

Have you seen the need for more affordable housing options in your community? Do you have an idea, a building site and the commitment of your Board but not sure what’s next or how to get started?

If you are considering building affordable housing in your community, Ready, Set, Build! (RSB!) is for you. RSB! is a blended course, consisting of an online component and face-to-face session, that will walk you through the development process. RSB! is for organizations of any size who are contemplating, or in the process of building or redeveloping affordable housing in their community. BCNPHA has been successfully delivering RSB! for many years and has helped numerous non-profit housing providers with their building projects.

How does it work? It’s simple!

Step 1) Determine if this course is right for you by clicking on the Are You Ready to Build? interactive resource at the top of this page. This short resource will guide you through an overview of the new building and re-development process and will help you make an informed decision regarding your readiness for the RSB! course.

Step 2) Register online for Ready, Set, Build! in the region where you would like to take the face-to-face session. We offer these sessions at BCNPHA educational events throughout the year. Scroll down below under the Courses section to see the upcoming face-to-face session locations.

Step 3) Once you register for RSB!, we’ll email you course specific details including important dates and how to log into HousingU, BCNPHA’s online learning management system. We recommend you spend 3 to 6 hours online before the face-to-face session familiarizing yourself with the online topics.

Step 4) Attend the one-day face-to-face session that takes place at BCNPHA’s annual conference, adjacent to our RENT event or other locations. Here you’ll meet your facilitator and co-learners and actively apply what you’ve learned online while preparing for topics to come.

Step 5) After the face-to-face session you can continue through the remainder of the online content. After completing the course you’ll retain access to the online resources, your colleagues and facilitator in the course area, as part of a sector-wide community of practice.
