Board Governance Program

Online, self-paced offerings for affordable housing board members.

Program Overview

Are you a new or seasoned board member looking for information that will affect the governance of your society?

Or are you new to the sector and aspiring to volunteer for a board position? We have you covered in our online courses that includes all aspects of non-profit board governance.

BCNPHA has been delivering in-person Board Governance workshops for many years. With our online, self-paced offerings, affordable housing board members can take advantage of board training from anywhere. Board Governance, developed in partnership with BC Housing, is available as a 12-week facilitated online course, or divided into four 30-day non-facilitated modules:

Board Governance Basics

Outlines the fundamentals of non-profit board governance, and will help you understand your role and responsibilities as a board member.

Board Relationships

Helps you to think about your own role as a board member, your interactions with your board, and your relationship with your Senior Manager.

Board Structure and Operating Procedures

Helps you consider the structure of your board and how you conduct board business.

Building Board Capacity

Helps you to best develop your board through board composition, recruitment, retention and of course board evaluation.

Module Sequence

The modules may be taken in any sequence. It is recommended that you take them in the order listed above, but is not mandatory.

If you prefer a longer, self-directed course with interaction between the facilitator and co-learners, consider taking our 12-week course.
