City of Vancouver Energy and Emissions Reporting: A Guide for Non-Profit Housing

Energize Vancouver is a multi-year initiative aimed at reducing carbon pollution from existing commercial and multi-family buildings, transitioning them to become more climate-friendly. In support of this initiative, the City’s Annual Greenhouse Gas and Energy Limits By-law mandates that building owners and managers report their energy use and GHG emissions. This webinar will provide an overview of the regulation and the types of buildings covered by the By-law. Attendees will receive a walkthrough of the two-part reporting process using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager (ESPM) and the City’s Building Performance Reporting System (BPRS), along with resources available for by-law compliance. BCNPHA’s Energy Analyst will also share information on how affected non-profits will be supported with their reporting through the association’s Benchmarking service.

Who should attend?

  • Non-profit housing providers that are located within the City of Vancouver
  • Non-profit housing providers with buildings greater than or equal to 50,000 square feet (4,645 square meters)

What will you learn?

  • Navigate to Energize Vancouver for information on the city’s building energy and emissions reporting mandate
  • Identify which building types and sizes fall under the By-Law, and their corresponding reporting deadlines
  • Gain familiarity with the two-part reporting process: ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager (ESPM) and the Building Performance Reporting System (BPRS)
  • Recognize how BCNPHA can support non-profit societies with the mandated reporting through the association’s Benchmarking service
