Vancity’s Non Profit Housing Retrofit program is providing $5 million in grants from 2022-2025 to help non-profit housing providers and housing co-operatives plan for deep energy retrofits.
These grants, available to Vancity members, are flexible and easy to access.
Vancity is providing grants up to $80,000 to help housing providers put their buildings on a pathway to net-zero and climate resilience- toward buildings that emit no greenhouse gases and better withstand the negative effects of a changing climate, ensuring occupant comfort and health are maintained.
This program has been designed in consultation with BCNPHA, AHMA and Affine Climate Solutions and grants are intended to be stacked with other funding sources.

Michelle is Manager Community Investment – Climate at Vancity. She led the development of the Non-Profit Housing Retrofit Program and oversees grant-making and community partnerships in service of Vancity’s climate commitments, including a commitment to climate ready, affordable housing.

Krista Loewen is a Community Investment Associate at Vancity Credit Union. She helped design the Non Profit Housing Retrofit Program and works with Vancity members and community partners to distribute funds in community. Krista also supports other granting program areas that help Vancity and community organizations reduce carbon emissions and enable a just transition
CEO,Brightside Community Homes
William Azaroff is CEO of Brightside Community Homes. He ensures operations are resilient, properties are well maintained, residents and staff are happy and healthy, and that Brightside achieves its goal of doubling the number of affordable homes Brightside provides over the next decade. Prior to joining the Brightside team, William was a long-time executive at Vancity. William is also on the board of the BC Non-Profit Housing Association and is former chair of Modo, a car-sharing co-operative and the Vancity Community Foundation.
