HR Policies 101 for Non-Profit Housing Providers:

Foundational Practices for Stronger Teams, Safer Workplaces and Better Outcomes

The non-profit housing sector faces unique HR challenges: high turnover, staffing shortages, burnout, complex client needs, and increasing regulatory expectations. Many small and mid-sized organizations navigate these pressures without a dedicated HR department or formal policies in place.

This practical, accessible workshop introduces the essential HR policies and practices that every housing provider needs to create a safe, equitable, and sustainable workplace. Through sector-specific examples, common pitfalls, and easy-to-implement tools, participants will learn how to strengthen their organizational foundations, improve team well-being, and reduce risk — even with limited resources. The session includes time for Q&A and incorporates participant questions gathered in advance to ensure it is as relevant as possible.

Here is what you can expect to learn:

Understand HR Foundations

Navigate Sector-Specific Challenges

Spot Common Organizational Pitfalls

Apply Practical, Low-Cost Approaches

Strengthen Equity, Inclusion and Fairness

Build Confidence in Managing People Practices
