Attendees will learn about the current state of technological adoption in the non-profit sector, the benefits of adoption, the barriers to adoption and how to overcome them at an organizational and individual level, how to identify ‘high value’ adoption opportunities and avoid common tech adoption traps, and review basic and advanced adoptions applicable to the non-profit housing sector. Attendees will also receive access to free resources and a worksheet to assist with larger scale adoptions.

James Struthers is the Founder & Managing Lawyer at macushlaw, a B Corp certified law firm providing a range of legal services to housing providers, First Nations, non-profits, charities and impact enterprises. James is a general practitioner with deep experience in housing related legal matters including corporate, commercial, real estate, compliance, governance, construction, development, financing, mergers and acquisitions and employment. James and the team at macushlaw provide modern and proportionate legal services, understand the available technology for non-profits and provide legal services in a manner informed by the current technological landscape. Their team has assisted on the legal components of many significant efficiency-improving technological adoptions, including contract automation systems. James is also a bencher of the Law Society of BC, has founded and sat on the board of a number of non-profits, and committed to making legal services more affordable and accessible to purpose driven organizations. He is admitted to both the bars of BC and the Yukon. When James isn’t working, you can find him hiking with his rescue pups Pip & Lily in the Kootenays where he lives primarily, plucking away at his guitar, or hacking away at a public golf course.
