This session explores decarbonization technologies for energy retrofits in existing buildings. Mechanical and building envelope engineers will present key retrofit approaches and emerging solutions.
Connect with professionals from SES Consulting and RDH Building Science as they cover the decarbonization process from their expertise. Baptist Housing, a non-profit housing provider, will share firsthand experience from decarbonizing an existing building.
The session will conclude with an open-floor discussion, providing participants the opportunity to engage directly with speakers and contribute to the conversation. .

Director of Sustainability and Maintenance
Erich Klein is the Director of Sustainability and Maintenance at Baptist Housing, a role he has held for 5 years and with the organization for 14 years. He oversees maintenance across 21 communities, providing safe and reliable housing for more than 2,700 residents. With a background in mechanical engineering and over 20 years of hands-on experience in mechanical equipment, Erich brings technical depth and a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and resident well-being.
Stephanie is a professional engineer with extensive experience in energy efficiency and decarbonization projects, including audits, implementations, commissioning, project management, and strategic planning. A former teacher, she now applies her expertise to develop and deliver energy and decarbonization courses for organizations such as the Canadian Institute for Energy Efficiency (CIET), BC Hydro, and FortisBC. She is also a contributing editor for AutomatedBuildings.com and sits on the Building Decarbonization Alliance (BDA) expert advisory panel.
