Providing Homes Rooted in Culture – A National Indigenous Peoples’ Month Celebration

Come celebrate National Indigenous People’s Month and hear from Elders and Indigenous Housing Providers speak about how they understand Providing Homes Rooted in Culture. Listen to guest Elders speak to how housing and the concept of home is deeply connected to traditional teachings. Housing providers will then share how innovative and cutting-edge housing programs go beyond the bricks and mortar of housing, and incorporate cultural practices, traditional knowledge and connection to the land and by doing so are decolonising mainstream approaches to housing.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand impact of social isolation
  • Identify community resources available to tenants
  • Review opportunities for supporting tenants through COVID-19 isolations
  • Discuss possible opportunities to support at-risk tenants
