Celebrate 2010 program – 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games tickets for distribution to community organizationsPosted
Celebrate 2010 is a program of the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) and its partners to provide Games tickets to persons who would not otherwise be able to attend. The program is designed to ensure people of limited means – with a focus on children and families, residents of Vancouver’s inner city, Aboriginal peoples, persons with a disability and new immigrants – are able to share in the dream of experiencing the 2010 Winter Games. Also considered will be neighbourhoods around Games practice ice arenas.
BCNPHA, along with other community partners, is working with VANOC to disseminate information to community organizations. “Celebrate 2010 is a way for our members to share with their tenants the special moments the Olympic and Paralympic Games have to offer,” said Karen Stone, executive director of the BC Non-Profit Housing Association. “Our members are dedicated to providing meaningful opportunities for their tenants who would not normally have access and we are pleased to be involved in connecting them to the Games experience.”
The Celebrate 2010 tickets will include Olympic (February 12 – 28, 2010) and Paralympic (March 12 – 21, 2010) sport events and nightly Olympic Victory Ceremonies. These tickets will be free to the recipients and include local public transit. Tickets will be allocated to particular community organizations whose mandates match the Celebrate 2010 criteria as defined by VANOC and its Games partners. Individual community organizations will identify ticket recipients from within their client base and facilitate their attendance at Games events and their enjoyment of the overall experience.
Organizations who are interested in having their clients considered for participation in the ticket program must contact VANOC directly via email at email@example.com by November 4, 2009. If you would like to attend one of the VANOC-hosted Q&A sessions noted below, please also respond to VANOC at the above e-mail.
