The Awake Night Staff (AWNS) provides a safe, comfortable, and home-like environment for each resident with the opportunity for each resident to develop life skills to the limits of their desire and potential. The AWNS also ensures good communication between team members, family, and professionals with regard to the life of the individual.

Job Title: Awake Night Staff
Location: Various Residential Sites
Start Date: As soon as possible
Term/Status: Permanent Full Time
Schedule/Hrs: Scheduled shifts between the hours of 21:30-9:30 Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun // 73.5 hours in 2 weeks

Float AWNS have no set schedule. Their work week rotation is 4 shifts in Week 1 and 3 shifts in Week 2. Float AWNS are available for scheduled shifts provided by the Scheduling Department for the above bi-weekly rotation. The scheduled shifts will be between the hours of 21:30 to 9:30 (employee will be working 10.5 hours per night for their shift). Float AWNS’ work location will change from shift to shift, depending upon the need within Residential Services.

Hourly Wage: $20.16 per collective agreement

Requirements/Education/Experience:
– Degree or Diploma in area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities such as Social Sciences, Human Services, or Education
– 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or related experience
– Experience with or training in the areas of adaptive communication, positive behaviour support, and community care is an asset
– Must be able to perform lifts and transfers of 40lbs
– Valid First Aid/CPR certificate
– Criminal Record Clearance
– Medical Clearance
– Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
– Eligible to work in Canada
