Formed 25 years ago, BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA) is the provincial umbrella organization for the non-profit housing sector comprised of over 600 members, including non-profit housing societies, businesses, partners and stakeholders. Together non-profit housing societies manage more than 65,000 units of long-term, affordable housing in over 2500+ buildings across the province. We require a full-time accountant with working knowledge in both charitable and not-for-profit structures. We are a non-profit with a separate charitable entity. We are looking for a full-cycle Accountant with experience working in multiple accounting tasks in a complex project/program-based environment. Duties and responsibilities includes but not limited to:
• Processes vendor invoices and payments
• Receives and runs credit card payments
• Processes receivables and bank deposits
• Prepares invoices, and statement of accounts
• Assists with collection of past due Accounts Receivable
• Assists in preparation of Cash Report
• Manages timesheets
• Monitors employees’ lieu, vacation and sick time
• Prepares payroll
• Reconciles accounts and assists in the month-end close including preparation of working papers
• Prepares financial reports required by program/project managers
• Bookkeeps for related entities
• Assists in preparation of audit working papers
• Prepares GST, PST, BC health tax and WCB returns
• Processes the charge-backs of specific costs to projects
• Reconciles all bank accounts
• Monitors and tracks credit card transactions
• Prepares and post credit card transaction reports and reconciliation for both AP and AR
• Processes expense claims
• Reconciles IMIS transactions with PayPal and bank accounts
• Reconciles intercompany transactions
• Assists in the preparation of monthly reporting package and analysis against budget
• Assists in office administration tasks such as file maintenance of accounting records and covering for the office administrator during her absence

Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 2 years of experience in similar role
• Proven ability to perform assigned functions with diligence and attention to details
• Ability to work effectively will all levels of staff and build strong internal relationships
• Good organizational skills
• Intermediate Excel skills including vlook-up, pivot tables
• Ability to meet deadlines and be a team player
• Must have financial analysis skills
• Must have excellent written and oral skills
• Must be able to work independently and easily adaptable to changing work environment
• Must have Accounting work experience in Canada
