Leadership in a complex workplace requires self-awareness, conscious use of specific skills and a clear intention to bridge to others in order to achieve and sustain effective collaborative relationships. In this half-day highly participatory online course, you will explore essential components of collaboration: developing a collaborative mindset, emotional intelligence, conscious verbal and nonverbal communication, intentional listening, and more. You will engage with the instructor and fellow learners through a combination of virtual classroom discussions using video conferencing software and self-paced web-based activities. You will also gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be an authentic leader and how to engage mindfully and intentionally with those around you.
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Identify essential practices that build collaborative bridges with colleagues and demonstrate receptivity to others’ viewpoints
- Explore ways of skillfully developing and maintaining honest and open relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Explore strategies for identifying misperceptions grounded in personal viewpoints.
Who should attend
This course is open to non-profit housing providers in any role, who wish to develop/enhance their leadership skills and/or transition to a leadership role. Class is limited to 25 participants maximum.
After registration, participants will receive further instructions from JIBC regarding registrant data, online course access, course materials and technical support.
This course be will delivered on September 16, 2020 from 9 am to 12:30 pm PST. Registrants are asked to sign in early (after 8:30 am) to allow for adequate time to log in and prepare for the session.
Free for BCNPHA members, $25 plus GST for non members.
