Building Systems (Fall 2021) – HousingU online course
Building Systems focuses on the building as a system of interconnected parts. This online, facilitated course will help new and experienced property and building managers, maintenance staff, and administrators understand the interconnected building systems, and the importance of maintenance to keep them functioning in good order. Participants will create an operations and maintenance plan that meets their unique operational and organizational needs, and will set up a building asset inventory system as a component of this course. This course can be completed in 8 weeks; however, participants have up to 3 months to complete.
“It was great to do this course. It has really opened my eyes to see how involved maintenance work is. This course material, though overwhelming when thinking about putting it all into works, is super helpful for knowing how to get on track and for knowing the different avenues that need to be completed to have a really successful maintenance program.” – Annette Odurukwe, Building Technician for Meadowbrook Seniors’ Residence
“I am very glad to have taken this course. It has made me more aware of the importance of having a knowledgeable and well trained staff in my role of monitoring a 10-year old building.” – Dave Mendez, More Than a Roof Housing Society
