Rapid Damage Assessment

BC Housing is offering presentations on Rapid Damage Assessment to all provincially funded, non-profit housing providers. There is no fee to attend the sessions. Travel costs and other related expenses are the responsibility of the society.

As part of BC Housing’s Damage Assessment Program, the Rapid Damage Assessment course is designed for persons with an understanding of how buildings are constructed, typically with a technical and/or construction background. It is suited to those who are actively involved in property or facilities management, building inspection, fire prevention or engineering roles. Individuals are shown the skills required to identify unsafe conditions and how to assess damage to determine whether buildings can be re-occupied following a flood, earthquake or wind storm.  The rapid inspection skills are taught using the Applied Technology Council guidelines (ATC 20 & 45) from California.

The facilitators are Steven Bibby, Jim Forrest and Jeff Cornell. For additional information, please review the Rapid Damage Assessment Course Outline.

Additional information can be found on the BC Housing website.
