Housing Central on the Hill

Posted

BCNPHA Government Relations Manager Diana Dilworth joined dozens of housing advocates from across the country at “Housing Day on the Hill,” an annual event held in Ottawa in October. With over $15 billion in investments in social and affordable housing and homelessness programs contained in the 2017 Budget, and with a National Housing Strategy to be unveiled shortly, Housing on the Hill provides a timely and unique opportunity to engage with Members of Parliament to seek out their support, raise awareness, and set the stage for additional investments in housing in future years.

Organized by the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association and the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness, the day focused on hearing from Minister Jean-Yves Duclos and visiting MPs in their offices to talk about the challenges facing our sector and sharing our recommendations for the soon-to-be released National Housing Strategy. The meetings were quite positive and participants left with high expectations for the National Housing Strategy to be released in late November.
