BC Coalition to End Youth Homelessness Seeks MembersPosted
Calling all Youth Homelessness advocates, leaders, experts and change-makers. Come be part of a movement to end youth homelessness in B.C.
The BC Coalition to End Youth Homelessness seeks members from all regions of BC to help develop and guide a provincial plan to end youth homelessness. The Coalition’s mission is to develop a plan to end youth homelessness that will ensure every youth has access to safe housing and the supports needed to sustain it.
The Coalition’s Strategy to Establish a Plan to End Youth Homelessness in BC outlines goals, outcomes and strategies for developing the provincial plan. Our goal is to work with communities, provincial government and others to develop the plan by January 2019.
The Coalition was founded in 2017 by representatives of A Way Home Kamloops and Pacific Community Resources Society. Currently, 20 organizations are represented from Vancouver, Surrey, Kamloops, Kelowna, West Kelowna, Victoria, Cowichan, Nanaimo, Williams Lake, and Prince George.
We are committed to expanding our membership with priority given to adding Indigenous organizations and communities to our membership and adding members from unrepresented regions and communities in BC. Currently, unrepresented regions and communities include:
- East and West Kootenays
- Northeast BC
- Northwest BC
- Rural and Indigenous communities
Ideally, new Coalition members will be:
- Passionate about sharing ideas for preventing and ending youth homelessness.
- Committed to bringing information from their communities to the Coalition and from the Coalition back to their communities.
- Connected to community coalitions, groups or other interested parties working towards ending youth homelessness.
To join the BC Coalition to End Youth Homelessness, please contact Coalition Co-Chairs (members are approved by the Coalition Leadership Committee at the next regular meeting):
