Posted

VANCOUVER, BC (Mar. 6) Media are advised that Kishone Tony Roy, CEO of the BC Non-Profit Housing Association, will be available for interviews on the 2017 Homeless Count in Metro Vancouver from Monday, Mar. 6 to Wednesday, Mar. 8.

Roy will be available to speak with reporters on the background of the 2017 Homeless Count in Metro Vancouver, and the activities associated with the count taking place on Mar. 7 and 8.

“The homeless count is a key part of the effort to eliminate homelessness,” said Roy. “It will give us a sense of the numbers of homeless, the demographics, and the trends in Metro Vancouver. It will allow us to understand where gaps in the system are and what future services might be needed. The information from the homeless count helps with policy development, planning, and prioritizing programs and services to address the needs of people who are homeless.”

Homeless counts take place in Metro Vancouver every three years and every year in the City of Vancouver. BCNPHA is conducting the 2017 Homeless Count in Metro Vancouver on behalf of the Homelessness Partnering Strategy’s Community Entity, Metro Vancouver. The count involves 1200 volunteers surveying the homeless population in member communities throughout Metro Vancouver.
