Job Title : Service Coordinator – Housing and Outreach Program

Description : Service Coordinators are members of the Housing and Outreach Team for the Progressive Housing Society and work together in a flexible, compassionate and responsible manner. The Service Coordinator manages a caseload of a minimum of twenty clients and shares responsibility with a team to provide and coordinate services for individuals who have either a history of, currently are, or are facing homelessness. The program participants will be offered supports and clinical services for mental health issues, substance use, criminal justice and other critical issues.

Salary Range: As per Collective Agreement

Qualifications:
• Diploma in Social Services; Degree is preferred
• Class 5 – BC driver’s license and reliable vehicle
• Certificates in CPR, First Aid, and Food Safe are preferred
• Recent, related experience of two years, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience,
• Or qualifications that are determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of responsibility required in a Service Coordinator position
• Familiarity with community resources
• Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, and sensitivity to persons with physical or mental health challenges or clients who are under served or marginalized
• Experience in social service delivery and its practices, supported housing or with persons with disabilities
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer skills
• Recent and relevant experience with mental illness and substance use issues
• Ability to physically perform the duties of the job, work effectively both independently and in the cooperative/collaborative manner of a team setting, organize and prioritize, to instruct, analyze and solve complex problems, experience with advocacy and conflict resolution and crisis intervention
• Property maintenance skills and abilities, and knowledge of Residential Tenancy Act

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday (May include weekend rotation) 8:30 – 4:30 or 9:00 – 5:00
