The housing affordability crisis is having a devastating effect on the Lower Mainland’s most vulnerable. The Manager, Housing, leads UGM’s response to this crisis. You will provide both operational and strategic direction of UGM’s 371 housing beds across three housing properties, and lead the expansion of UGM’s abstinence-based housing stock. A champion of safe, abstinence-based (i.e.: drug and alcohol free) housing and community, you will play a key role in UGM’s continuum of care. You will lead a small team that provides both transitional and long-term housing in Vancouver and Surrey, working closely with UGM’s Alcohol and Drug Recovery, Outreach, and Women & Families teams. You will operate with a high level of autonomy, providing direction to two tenant relations staff and developing and operating appropriate programming for our housing facilities.

If you have considerable experience in a housing-related field, a good understanding of a landlord’s rights and responsibilities under the Residential Tenancy Act, and some general building management and security experience, you may be just the person we are looking for. To do well in this position, you will require a strategic orientation and strong interpersonal, administrative and supervisory skills. Experience managing recovery-based and abstinence-based housing is an asset, as is related education.
This position may have unsupervised access to vulnerable adults or children. Therefore, the successful candidate must provide a current criminal record check that includes a vulnerable sector search as a condition of employment.
The successful applicant may be required to drive a UGM vehicle and will be required to submit a current driver’s abstract.
