As the largest provider of services to the homeless and those at-risk of homelessness in Greater Victoria, the Victoria Cool Aid Society is a key player in the work to end homelessness. Cool Aid advocates for and provides emergency shelter, supportive housing, integrated healthcare and other support services to the most marginalized and vulnerable individuals in the Capital Regional District. Each year, Cool Aid serves 12,000 adults and seniors facing multiple challenges of poverty, unemployment, mental health and substance use, chronic health issues, brain injury and aging.
An opportunity now exists for an experienced Director of Real Estate Development to join Cool Aid and become part of a dynamic and collaborative work environment.
The Director, Real Estate Development will lead the overall coordination of real estate development projects at Cool Aid through the design and construction phases coordinating various stakeholders. The incumbent will lead the design process, municipal and provincial approvals and ensure projects are delivered on time and budget. The Director must think commercially, able to problem solve creatively to ensure the highest standards and a successful outcome.
This multifaceted position requires a strong project management background with an experiential understanding of overall real estate development processes from concept, funding, through to construction completion and an acceptance for stakeholder input and direction.
This is also a process-oriented position that considers project schedules, budgets, milestones and operational policies and demands attention from both a holistic and detail standpoint. This requires strong leadership skills and a desire to mentor others.
Candidates applying for the Director of Real Estate Development should have a minimum of 7+ years’ experience in a real estate development focused role. They will possess relevant post-secondary education such as Architecture, Urban Planning, and/or Commerce with a concentration in Real Estate or Urban Land Economics, be highly organized, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task on projects, articulate ideas and perform under pressure. They will also be detail oriented, have an excellent work ethic and attention to detail and be ready to commit to an environment which strives for excellence in everything that they do. Experience working with BC Housing funded projects is essential. .
