There has never been a time in the history of affordable housing in BC where working together has been more critical. Our online, facilitated Partnerships course provides the information and skills leaders need to successfully decide on and navigate partnerships of all kinds.

The Partnerships course, funded by BC Housing and developed by BCNPHA, has been designed specifically for affordable housing leaders and board members who make decisions about partnerships.

Topics include:

Defining a Partnership | Types of Partnerships | Partnering for Collective Impact | The Process of Partnering | Roles and Responsibilities | Legal Implications | Maintaining Healthy Partnerships | Ending Partnerships | Creating a Successful Partnering Guide

What you'll learn

The Partnerships course has been developed for organizations contemplating any kind of partnership. The course provides a logical and easy to follow model and framework of partnership development. The partnership model designed for this course begins with scoping – the idea stage – where potential partnerships are contemplated and internal needs are assessed. By the end of the course participants will create their own partnership guide, personalized for their organization.

Time commitment

This course includes approximately 32 hours of content. It is recommended that you commit to studying for 3-4 hours a week in order to be done in 8 weeks. However, you will have up to 3 months to complete. You can progress at your own pace, log in to do assignments, and participate in forum discussions whenever when it’s convenient for you. Having said that, we do encourage you to stick to the posted weekly schedule so that most participants will be working on the same topic at roughly the same time.
